Thank you to everyone for making the PTA Auction fundraiser a huge success!  We collected around $11,800 which will help fund projects, events, educational support, and other services for Dorothy Fox!

We are so grateful to everyone who attended the event, for the wonderful donations, to the many auction bidders, and to our PTA auction team for all their time put into create this amazing fundraiser!  We also appreciate Fox staff for being so supportive and helping to create some fantastic items and experiences!

RECAP: It was a GLORIUMPTIOUS reading night on October 25th celebrating Roald Dahl!  The evening opened with a wonderful performance by 43 Fox students in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, directed by Metropolitan Performing Arts.  Families then went to discover the candy invention room (play-doh and drawings), the Dahl writing shed room (with Mad Libs and photo ops), the BFG insect room where kids created clothespin insects, Miss Spiderpops and learned about our school garden. The BFG dreamcatcher library craft was a big hit as was the Oompa Loompa hair salon and free books in the book fair with our guests from the Camas Library.  Kids snacked on Dippin’ Dots, Hello Waffle, Subway and sampled free Fizzy Lifting Drinks.  In the gym, our auction was a serious success and raised over $11,000 dollars!  Wow!  Our other successful fundraiser that night was our scrumdiddlyumptious Wonka Bars so congratulations to our 5 golden tickets winners who get a Freshii card and free lunch seating!  Thank you to our PTA chairs (Tammy Speer, Jackie Lum and Leslie Reyes) and everyone that volunteered that night and donated to the auction!

YEARBOOK PHOTOS: If you have photos to submit from reading night to the yearbook, please send them to ptadorothyfox@gmail.com

Book Fair Questions and Answers by Ms. Logan:

1. When is it open?
The book fair is open

  • Monday before school (7:40-8) and after school 12:05-3:15

  • Tuesday and Wednesday before school (7:40-8), during MORNING recess (9:20-10:20) and after school (12:05-3:15)

  • Thursday before school (7:40-8), during MORNING recess (9:20-10:20) and after school (12:05-7:00 p.m.)

  • Thursday night is our family night, with “Pop in for Popcorn” happening until 7:00 p.m.

2. What happens during library class?

Students will still have the opportunity to check out a library book if they would like.  Those interested/able to shop during school are encouraged to shop during library CLASS because it will be less crowded and we will have additional parent volunteers in K-3 to help find books and make wish lists.  Students not shopping will be able to make wish lists or complete book exploration activities.  ALL DFE students will get to put a ticket in to win one of six new books.

3. Who can come after school?

Any DFE family is welcome to shop after school, whether or not it is their conference day.  Students must be accompanied by an adult to shop after school hours.

4. What about the trinkets?
Other than bookmarks, I will leave “trinkets” hidden until after school most days.  On Thursday, I will have trinkets out for the entire day.  Please join me in encouraging students to take them home and leave them at home.

5. What forms of payment can you take?

We accept cash, checks made out to Dorothy Fox Elementary, major credit cards, and eWallet.

eWallet: Parents are strongly encouraged to set up an eWallet account for students who will be shopping independently during the school day.

Link for setting up eWallet: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/dorothyfox

Parents must follow the link, then scroll down to the green “Go cash-free” ribbon on the website.  If they click “get started,” the site will walk them through creating an eWallet for their child.

6. Do you have enough volunteers?

We’re getting there!  Link

7.  How are book fair proceeds used?

All proceeds from this book fair will be used to put new books on the shelves of the DFE Library.
