CHINESE ACROBATS ASSEMBLY

What an inspiration!  Students had a great time watching the amazing acrobatic skills of this group! So fun to bring in talent and backgrounds from all over the world for students to experience.

This assembly was brought to the school by funds raised through the PTA!

FOX SCHOOL GARDEN

Do you enjoy gardening and working with kids?  Dig in and join our volunteer school garden team!  We aim to open the garden to students once a week during lunch recess time. Over the next few weeks students will have the opportunity to plant seeds, plant fruit and veggie starts, observe cocoons and insects, make plant markers, pull weeds, etc.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the PTA Garden Chair, Lianne Lauda at liannedfepta@hotmail.com to be added to the garden email distribution list.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

LIVING AERIAL ART

The sky is the limit with our final Artist in Residence for this year!

On June 12th, 13th and 14th, Dorothy Fox will host a very special residency. Our students will get the chance to work with Daniel Dancer, an artist who will make each of them part of a living work of art!

For the beginning of the residency, Daniel will talk about perspective and point of view with the students. After giving a history of geoglyphs (art that can't be seen at ground level but can be seen from a distance in the sky) and similar art projects, Daniel will work with students to plot out the artwork on our playground.

All Dorothy Fox students will participate and a piece of art will be revealed! Every student will receive their own photograph of the project to take home. Students will be asked to wear a colored t-shirt on the day of the photograph. As we get closer to the event, we will be in touch about t-shirt colors.

To make this residency work, we are looking for donations of the following items. Please contact Amanda Carter-Jura if you have access to any of these items jurababy2@gmail.com. Thank you!

  • 20 bags of black dyed mulch

  • 2 cans of inverted turf marking paint

  • 50 survey flags

Please stay tuned! More information will come!

FOX LIBRARY NEWS

A special thanks to everyone who donated to the Birthday Book Club or bought books at the Spring Book Fair! Your generosity helps to enrich our library and helps get critical books on the shelves for our kids. This year alone, thanks to your support, students have checked out 26,740 books so far this year (up from 22,383 last year)! Our kids are reading more because the library has more to offer them!

If you are interested in volunteering this Spring, the library needs your help! The library needs help getting books covered, which is a one-time, come when you can job. (Please let Mrs. Logan know if you can volunteer so she knows to expect you.) The library also needs help on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:15-9:30. Please contact Mrs. Logan if you can come in to help.

Did you find yourself with extra earbuds when you upgraded your iPhone? If so, the library will be happy to take those extra ear buds off you hands! Please send your extra ear buds to Mrs. Logan. She will get them cleaned up and ready for use in the library!

If your child has a late Spring or Summer Birthday, there is still time to buy a book in their honor! If you are interested, please click on the link below.  -->click here for the form or visit www.dorothyfoxpta.com/fox-library

RUN FOR THE ARTS

SAVE THE DATE, JUNE 6th!

Fundraiser for the Arts at Fox!

Let's raise donations for our Arts Program! Students at Dorothy Fox love participating in the school's fun running programs!

First, they have the chance to take part in the annual jogging program during school and earn feet token charms for completed miles (one for every 10 miles).

This will be followed by the Run For the Arts event on June 6th! Students are encouraged to collect pledges in support of their laps on our one day run fundraiser. Come cheer on your runner(s) or join them!  We will post a schedule of running times as we get closer.

ART CONTEST - WSDOT

Know a child who loves the earth and art? WSDOT has a contest for them.

"Keeping Washington Beautiful/Reducing Roadside Litter"

No one likes litter along the roadway. We don't like seeing it marring our highways and we know the public doesn't either.

That's where our state's young artists come in.
We're creating new Adopt-a-Highway automobile litter bags. The bags help physically contain trash, of course, but we also want to help spread our litter prevention message on the outside. And we need some new artwork reminding everyone how preventing litter helps keep our state beautiful.
