DOROTHY FOX GREEN TEAM
The Fox Green Team took a field trip to the West Van Materials Recovery Transfer Station for a tour about recycling and waste. They also had a guided tour of the Tidewater Barge lines to see how landfill is loaded onto barges that get shipped to the landfill in Boardman, OR.
The Green Team learned a lot and saw first hand how things do not "go away" when thrown away. Such a neat program for our Fox 3rd-5th grade team!
Many thanks to Ms. Wick for leading the Fox Green Team, we appreciate you!
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
At the end of January, we will welcome our first Artist in Residence! This residency will be a weaving/textile artist where students will be making weavings with all sorts of fun and tactile materials. The classes will look at textiles from different cultures and read stories about the makers. And, as the students grow their weaving skills, they will practice life and learning skills.
UPDATE - Please Help:
Thank you to the parent volunteers who came to the school to cut fabric. We made a lot of progress! BUT....There is still a lot of material to cut and prepare.
For any volunteers who would still like to help, please come pick up fabric to take home, cut on your own time and bring back to the school. The uncut material is sitting in the school lobby in large bags. When you are finished, you can bring the cut strips back to school. We are currently keeping the cut strips back in the PTA office.
To make it easy, I am also including the specs:
1/4"-1" wide x 12"-24" long strips. If you find yarn in the mix, you don't need to worry about cutting that. I think we have enough yarn at the moment. The helpful items would be the fabric strips, ribbon or other random non-yarn materials.
Thanks in advance for any at-home help you can give.
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE AT FOX

PRESIDENTS' DAY HOLIDAY

RECYCLE CHALLENGE - TREX COMPANY PLASTIC FILM RECYCLING CHALLENGE THROUGH 4/15/18
The 2017-2018 Trex Company Plastic Film Recycling Challenge is in full swing at several Camas Schools!
The challenge begins each year on #AmericaRecyclesDay, November 15, and lasts until April 15, with winners announced on #EarthDay (started by Camas native Denis Hayes), April 22.
About the program: Every year hundreds of schools across the nation compete against each other to recycle the most plastic film. In addition to providing a better understanding and appreciation for the importance of recycling, Trex will donate a high-performance composite bench to the winning school, and bestow honorary awards to every school that participates.
Let's show kindness to the earth and Recycle together! Acceptable clean plastics can be dropped off at Fox. A collection bin is located in the hallway by the front office.
